OnePlus is once again making the headlines and buyers will be worried about the latest update from the brand. OnePlus 15 and the 15R models are now costlier than what you might have paid a few weeks back. These price revisions are not just limited to OnePlus and we have already seen other brands dish out similar changes to their latest models as they grapple with the ongoing memory shortage issue.

Most experts have warned about brands having no choice but to increase the prices of their products and the new update is not quietly official across the company’s online channels.

OnePlus 15 and 15R prices increased in India: What you pay now 

The OnePlus 15 series price hike means you pay an extra of up to Rs 6,000 for these models. This is the second price hike issued for these devices. The OnePlus 15 base model now starts at Rs 79,999 while the 16GB + 512GB variant costs Rs 85,999.

In the same way, the OnePlus 15R is priced at Rs 52,999 for the 12GB + 256GB model while the higher 12GB + 512GB variant comes for Rs 57,999 in India.

OnePlus 15 and 15R Specifications: Still worth buying?

The OnePlus 15 is powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, while the 15R uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC with up to 16GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. The 15 has a 50MP triple camera system that includes a wide, periscope telephoto and ultrawide lenses. It packs a 7,300mAh battery that supports 100W fast wired charging.

In the same way, the 15R is costlier than what you would have paid a few months back. This is the second price hike from the brand as it looks to offset the current market situation. The phone comes with a 50MP + 8MP dual rear camera system, packs a 7,400mAh battery with 80W fast wired charging supported out of the box.

Why are phones getting costlier?

The main backdrop of all these changes is the demand for AI pushing the industry to prioritise making memory chips for the non-consumer market and that means phone makers may a higher price to use these parts for their products.
